Just over one week ago, Tarra the beloved Asian elephant at the Hohenwald sanctuary in Middle Tennessee, made the move south to Georgia.

Tarra, the beloved elephant who gained national attention at The Elephant Sanctuary in Lewis County, was reunited Thursday with her rightful owner Carol Buckley. With the decade long custody battle for the 7,000-pound animal finally over, the two now head to Georgia and Buckley’s new Elephant sanctuary.

Staff at Elephant Refuge International say Bo, the Asian male elephant who arrived three weeks ago at the new vast reserve in southern Decatur County, has settled in quickly.

Thursday afternoon was a huge day for Elephant Refuge North America and Elephant Aid International founder Carol Buckley, as they welcomed their first elephant, Bo, to his new home in Attapulgus.

Bo, a former circus elephant, is the first resident to spend the rest of his life at Elephant Refuge North America, which is located in Attapulgus, Georgia.

It’s a big day for South Georgia. Bo, a 10,000-pound elephant moved into his new home thanks to Elephant Aid International.

South Georgia’s newest resident is nearly 11 feet tall and weighs five tons.

Bo, a 34-year-old male elephant who retired from the circus after performing for 30 years, arrived at Elephant Refuge North America in Attapulgus Thursday.

Bo, a 34-year-old male elephant, will become the first resident of Elephant Refuge North America, in Attapulgus, GA, this Thursday, Sept. 23. He is currently scheduled to arrive at noon.
