Elephant Aid International

These elephants benefit from the mobile health care program I established over five years ago.

Welcome to my new blog! I am so excited to share this great news with you. Never one to stand around and watch the grass grow, I decided to create a new nonprofit organization called

Elephant Aid International.

I guess that makes all of you ELEAIDS.

The mission of Elephant Aid International is to assist elephants worldwide…one elephant at a time. I believe in the power of one, that every elephant counts. On my travels I will be searching for opportunities to learn about elephant and mahout life in Nepal, India and Thailand. Whenever and wherever possible, I hope to impart what elephants have taught me about non-dominance passive-control management and the sanctuary life style.

It is my good fortune to be invited by elephant experts to participate in field work, elephant medical care and even brainstorming with other like-minds for the creation of elephant sanctuaries in Nepal and India. I am focusing on the future, thankful for this opportunity to be of service on a much grander scale.  This trip is humbling, a fabulous opportunity to further my studies of this magnificent species and a chance to give back.

Imagine the prospect of sharing what I have learned from our girls to benefit their relatives, in their homeland. It is more than I ever dreamed possible. Talk about coming full circle and paying it forward.

I can’t wait to see what the future holds. My flight to Kathmandu leaves April 12. After a pit stop in Bangkok I join up with a team of veterinarians and technicians for the first leg of my trip. I will blog as often as possible to include you in the adventure and, of course, introduce you to each and every elephant I am blessed to meet along the way. The future is indeed BRIGHT.

Namaste,

Carol

Good for you, Carol!!! I am very excited for you and humbled by your ability shake off the past and move forward in the aid even more elephants. If you need funding, please let us know. We have responded in the past and I am sure we will all want to respond, to the best of our abilities, in the future. Have a wonderful trip and enjoy some of the scenery while you are there. You are, simply put, amazing. Who would have thought that you would have pulled it all together so quickly. You surely have learned much from your years with elephants. Even the girls who had been so abused found a way to focus on today, the ones they love and the future of their new herds. Who would have ever thought that seemingly shy, fragile Sissy would become the “rock” for Winkie and that together, they would heal and grow. This a wonderful opportunity to honor Sissy and Winkie’s relationship as well as the resilence of each of the other girls and move forward, beyond the hurtful past, while making even greater strides for elephants. Success and purpose are the best ways to put the past behind us, and in my humble opinion, it is the Board of TES, not you, who has lost by their decisions. Thank you for your continuing work with elephants, Carol, I truly appreciate you and your keen abilities.
    Take care,
    Sherry

    Hey Carol,

Even though your leaving is sad, and we will still continue to fight for your right to return to the elephants in Tennessee, I am excited for you with this trip. I am sure it is bittersweet for you. Assuming you are going to the Elephant Nature Park please say hello to Mae Dta Keow. http://www.elephantnaturepark.org/herd/maedtakeow.htm. I do love her so even though it has been years since I have seen her. I am glad you are going to get together with other true visionaries who are working in Asia to save these amazing beings. Sarah

Bless you Carol. When one door closes, another one opens. I know you will help many elephants on this path, and I will still hope that one day you will in fact come “full cirle” and reunite with Tarra and return to your rightful place.

Carol, I think you have always had a little bit of the fearless gypsy in you so this fits right in. Those elephants in Asia have no idea how blessed they are to have you in their corner! I look so forward to reading your blogs and sense a new book out of this, “Travels in Asia”, maybe. Oh, and please do take lots and lots of pictures. Remember, we love you, so take very good care of yourself.

    Dear Carol,
It was your dedication, your love of the elephants and your ability to communicate the personality of the girls that made me decide to make TES my major charitable contribution. You are a visionary who dreams big and then finds a way to make those dreams come true. You made TES a very special place. I have always had the utmost admiration for you, an admiration which has grown exponentially in the past few weeks. You are a remarkable person to be dealing with the incomprehensible way the Board of Directors has acted toward you with such grace. I am glad that now even more elephants will benefit from your compassion and expertise. You will always have my support and trust. Take care and have a safe journey.

    Carol,
You will be living my dream life when helping the elephants in Asia and Africa!!
They NEED YOU and your expertise to help save them from the horrible abuse, neglect and death that most of them face every single day!
Elephants are so abused in Thailand and India. I can’t hardly stand to read about it. Those wonderful magnificent elephants deserved to be saved and cared for!!
Your international travel to help the elephants will help you, as well as help them!!
Stay strong and enjoy every moment you are given to be in their company! What a wonderful journey you have ahead!

God Speed, Carol Buckley. “…and the darkness of the night becomes only an illusion to the heart that dares to live within the dream.” ~SGH. These are my words but you are proof that they are true. You have courage, stamina and endurance well beyond the trials that have come into your life. Thank you for letting us live within your dream. Please blog us as often as you can. We will each miss you but we know that is but a small sacrifice for all of the wonderful work you will be doing for elephants. Be safe and have a wonderful time meeting all those amazing ele-beings.

Thank you for sharing your move-out day with us. It is heartbreaking for me so I cannot even imagine how difficult it must be for you. TES is YOUR dream and to be forced off of the grounds, well, it is unthinkable to me. You are embarking upon a new and unfolding journey. I hope that while you are away, that the legal process will reinstate you in your rightful place upon Sanctuary grounds and back into Tarra’s life. Tomorrow is a new and beautiful day, may you embrace every minute of it.
